- Account Information: Your email address and password (encrypted) when you create an account.
- Financial Data: Bank account names, balances, and transaction details retrieved through Plaid when you choose to connect a bank account.
- Budget Data: Envelopes, budget amounts, fill schedules, rules, and income plans you create within the app.
- Workspace Data: Workspace names, member lists, and invitation details for shared budgets.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide the budgeting features of the app (displaying balances, categorizing transactions, filling envelopes).
- To sync your data across devices and with workspace members.
- To send transactional emails (invitations, password resets) via Postmark.
- To diagnose and fix errors (error reports may include your email and workspace ID).
Third-Party Services
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, database (Firestore), and hosting. Firebase Privacy Policy

- Google Analytics (website only): We use Google Analytics 4 on our marketing website (ourenvelopebudget.com) to understand how visitors find and use our pages. Analytics is not used inside the iOS or macOS app. Google Privacy Policy
Website Analytics & Cookies
Our marketing website uses Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage information that helps us improve the site. This applies only to ourenvelopebudget.com — not to the app itself.
What Google Analytics collects on our website:
- Pages you visit and how long you stay
- Approximate location (country/region, based on IP)
- Device, browser, and operating system information
- How you found us (referral source, search terms, ad campaign)
- An anonymized identifier stored via cookies or similar browser storage
Your IP address is anonymized before storage. Data is processed by Google and may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States.
How to opt out: You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on, enabling "Do Not Track" or tracking protection in your browser, or using a browser-level ad/tracker blocker.
Data Storage and Security
- Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore with encryption at rest and in transit.
- Bank access tokens from Plaid are stored server-side only and are never sent to your device.
- Passwords are managed by Firebase Authentication and are never stored in plaintext.
- Firestore security rules ensure you can only access workspaces you belong to.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with the third-party services listed above as necessary to provide the app's functionality.
If you join a shared workspace, other members of that workspace can see the budget data (envelopes, transactions, balances) within that workspace.
Your Rights
- Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time.
- Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen in the app. This permanently removes your account, workspaces, and all budget data.
- Portability: Contact us to request a copy of your data.
Children's Privacy
Our app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
